Meetings with members of the community or calls to members of the community on a "business as usual basis";
Attendance at conferences and external meetings in an official Baycrest capacity (i.e. as a presenter); and,

Introduction

The focus of the 10th annual KLARU Conference will be on treatment and management approaches to various manifestations of frontal lobe dysfunction (e.g., executive, language, psychiatric). The conference includes morning lectures led by internationally recognized leaders in health care research and frontal lobe dysfunction. The afternoon workshops led by scientist-clinicians focus on specific issues (i.e., cognitive, behavioral, vascular, mood, and language) related to the management (e.g., neurorehabilitation, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology) of fronto-temporal lobe dysfunction.

Who Should Attend:

This conference is intended for all health care professionals and researchers working with older adults with fronto-temporal brain dysfunction, including long-term care and community programs administrators, nurses, speech-language pathologists, social workers, personal support workers, family physicians, neuropsychologists, neurologists, geriatricians and psychiatrists.

Educational Objectives:

At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:

Identify the factors, priorities, and gaps in research related to fronto-temporal lobe dysfunction
Describe recent advances in intervention programs (e.g., neurorehabilitation, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology) for older adults with various manifestations (i.e., cognitive, behavioural, language, vascular, psychiatric) of fronto-temporal brain dysfunction;
Learn how implementing research-based interventions can promote high quality care for older adults with problems due to fronto-temporal dysfunction.
