Masking

Please be aware of Baycrest’s Masking Policy, last updated 2024-03-13. In particular, note the following excerpts from the policy:

  • Masking will also be optional in areas where staff are interfacing with members of the public such as research participants.
  • If a resident or patient requests that a healthcare worker wear a mask when providing care, staff members should accommodate such a request.
  • Baycrest is a mask-friendly environment. Anyone who wishes to wear a mask is encouraged and supported to do so.
  • Baycrest will continue to provide medical-grade masks and hand sanitizer at all entrances.

Masking is optional for MRI Staff, researchers and participants. Please let the MRI Staff know in advance if a participant requests that the researchers/staff be wearing masks.

Infection control

Everyone is responsible for infection control. Hand washing is essential to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. We treat all of our volunteer participants like clinical patients. Their health is our responsibility. All persons are required to sanitize or wash their hands upon entering the MRI Facility. Researchers are also required to sanitize or wash hands after each physical contact with the participant and prior to utilizing any MRI Lab equipment.

Please revisit the IPAC Hand Hygiene module of the Baycrest Core Curriculum to review the proper uses for alcohol sanitizers and liquid soaps, the five hand rub techniques, and the four moments of hand hygiene with patients.

No eating or drinking in the MRI Facility

No eating or drinking (closed top water bottle excepted) is permitted in the MRI Facility. Participants & researchers are encouraged to drink and eat in the cafeteria or elsewhere if necessary and not in the Interview, Simulator, or Control Rooms.

Facility Cleaning

Environmental Services is scheduled to clean the MRI Facility on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 to 8:30. Project reservations do not begin until 9:00, which should allow time for the floors to dry, but please be careful and let the Technologist know if they are still wet.
